Osteopathy and Acupuncture Work for Back Pain
I've known this for years but this week the newspapers and TV were announcing the news of the latest NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) recommendations. They are recommending that patients with low back pain should get osteopathy and acupuncture on the NHS.
The cost of providing courses of the alternative therapies to the four million Britons, who currently consult their GP with back complaints, is estimated to be £40 million.
The guidance tells doctors to offer patients up to 10 sessions of acupuncture, worth between £35 and £50 per time. Alternatively, they could advise nine visits to experts in "spinal manipulation", such as osteopaths.
Alternatively you could jump the queue and "go private" to someone like me. I offer a range of treatments, including osteopathy and acupuncture and I can tailor a specific treatment program to your needs.
