I hope you find the information in my website helpful. I have tried to explain my philosophy and what I do in a straightforward way, however constructive feedback is always welcome.
Even if we never meet I hope that you might be encouraged to give osteopathy a try.
The question I get asked most by patients is "how long have you been doing this work?" what they really seem to want is a mini-biography, so here goes:
I used to be an Analytical Chemist, working for the Ministry of Agriculture (now DEFRA) until I got interested in how bodies worked. I began to study human physiology and anatomy in my spare time and over a 3 year period gained a Higher Grade Diploma in advanced massage and manipulation at the Northern Institute of Massage. I followed this with 2 more years of study with the Northern Counties School of Osteopathy graduating as an Osteopath in 1991.
Since then my postgraduate studies have included Visceral Osteopathy, Cranial Osteopathy and Acupuncture. I have had the good fortune to study Craniosacral therapy with Dr Upledger in Florida and to precept with him at the Brain and Spinal Cord Injury centre in West Palm Beach.
I am surprised to realise that I am beginning my 26th year as an osteopath, the time has flown by. While I draw on all of my experience to make each treatment special, the majority of my treatments these days use Osteopathy or Acupuncture, singly or in combination.
Whether you need sustained deep pressure to release a spasmed back muscle or the "light as a breeze" contact of cranial osteopathy, or the relaxing waves of electroacupuncture, my goal is to give you back the freedom to enjoy life again.
